The refusal that blames the wrong thing
Instagram accepts both PNG and JPEG — the constraint is the shape of the picture, not its format. Anything outside roughly 4:5 to 1.91:1 comes back as code 36003, and the message arrives with empty brackets where the ratio should be, which reads like a decode failure and is really just an unfilled template. That cost us a wrong conclusion once: a wide banner and a square photo were compared at the same time, the format got the blame, and Instagram, Threads and TikTok were all marked JPEG-only for a while on the strength of it. A square PNG published fine the same day.

When this is the wrong tool
We do not check aspect ratio before publishing yet — we do not store image dimensions, so there is nothing to compare against. A banner-shaped image still fails at Instagram, with an accurate message and no pointless retries, but it fails. And a published Instagram post cannot be removed through the API by us or by anyone else, so deletions are a trip to the app.

Why does Instagram need an image or video?
Because the network has no text-only post at all. The rejection comes from Instagram, not from us. 1Social checks before publishing and says so in the chat, rather than relaying an opaque failure after the fact.
Can I post a carousel?
Yes — up to 10 images or videos in one post, attached in the same message. Every item goes through the same checks as a single image.
Can 1Social delete an Instagram post it published?
No, and neither can anything else: there is no delete endpoint for published posts on Instagram. We remove it from your history and tell you plainly that the post is still live on the network, instead of quietly deleting only our own copy.
Do Instagram captions get trimmed?
Only if you go past 2,200 characters, which is the network’s own ceiling. If a post you wrote for a longer network would overflow here, you are told before publishing, not after.
