Hermes · one connector
Publish to social from Hermes Agent.
A few lines in the Hermes config and one login, and the agent that already plans your week can publish what it planned.
Hermes is a personal agent that keeps context between sessions and picks up skills as it goes, which suits social posting better than it first appears. The hard part of posting regularly is not writing one post, it is remembering the plan, the tone and which network wants what. An agent that already holds that context only lacked a way to put the result out under your own accounts.
Connecting takes a short block in the Hermes configuration file naming our server with OAuth as the sign-in, then one login command. Hermes prints an authorize link, opens the browser when it can, waits for you to finish, and caches the token so later sessions start connected. The publishing tools are the same ones every other client gets.
Publishing from Hermes
Drawn rather than captured — but the outcomes are the ones this product really produces, including the network that could not be confirmed.
Set me up — what do you need?
Just the accounts. Connect them in the browser once and I can publish from here after that.
Done, connected
I will tell you before publishing if a network cannot take what you wrote.
Good. Drafting the launch note now
Send it over and I will check it before anything goes out.
Take the three posts we agreed on yesterday and schedule them Monday to Wednesday
from an earlier session · LinkedIn and Bluesky
Previewed all three on both networks first:
Five of six are scheduled. The Wednesday one runs past Bluesky’s limit — I can split it into a short thread there, if you want.
Where to add it in Hermes
mcp_servers in ~/.hermes/config.yaml, then hermes mcp login — the block is on the MCP page
The address to paste is on the MCP page, printed from live configuration rather than typed into a document — so it cannot be out of date here while being correct there.
What Hermes can do once it is connected
Configured once, connected after
The token from the first login is cached by Hermes and refreshed in the background, so a new session starts with the publishing tools already there.
Plans the week, then posts it
Draft a run of posts in one session, approve them, and have each one scheduled with its own time instead of copying the plan into another tool.
Rules checked before sending
Every draft goes through a preview that names what a network would refuse — length, a missing picture, a format — before a single post leaves.
Sign-in waits for you
The login command holds the terminal until you finish in the browser. Run it in its own window if you are editing the config from inside a session.
How it works
Connect once
~2 minLink the accounts you use in a browser. OAuth, no passwords typed into a chat, no API keys to paste anywhere.

A headless host signs in with a device code
Hermes is often run on a server or a remote shell with no browser at all, where opening an authorize link on the same machine is impossible. Its login command has a device-code flow for that case: it shows a short code and a link, you finish signing in on your phone or laptop, and the server picks up the token on its own. Without that flag the login simply waits for a browser that will never open, which looks like a hang rather than a missing option.
A rule of Hermes, not ours and not the network’s. From documentation, checked 2026-10-27.
When this is the wrong tool
If you have never edited a configuration file and would rather click through a settings screen, ChatGPT or Claude will get you to the same tools with less setup. Hermes is worth it when the agent itself is the point — the memory, the skills, the terminal — not as the shortest way to one post.
Questions people actually ask
Where does the 1Social server go in Hermes?
Under mcp_servers in the Hermes configuration file, with the server address and OAuth as the sign-in method. The exact block is on our MCP page, built from the live server address, followed by the login command.
Can Hermes sign in on a server with no browser?
Yes, with the device-code option of its login command. It shows a code and a link; you finish on any other device and the server receives the token.
Do I sign in again every session?
No. Hermes caches the token and refreshes it, so you only log in again if access is revoked — for example after disconnecting the agent in your 1Social settings.
