Where a piece genuinely needs more room, it goes out as a chain of up to 25 parts rather than one clipped post. X is also the only network here running on our own API keys rather than our publishing provider’s, which has consequences worth knowing about before you pick a plan.

Chaining is on for X, and has not been proved live
X supports reply chains and we have it switched on, so a multi-part post is sent as a chain rather than joined. We have not verified that end to end on a live account, and we are saying so here rather than letting you find out. The reason for the caution is specific: we made exactly this assumption about Threads — the network supports chains, therefore ours will chain — and it was false, because the missing permission belonged to our publishing provider’s app rather than to the network. Bluesky chaining was verified by reading the reply graph back from a public server. X has not had that treatment yet.

When this is the wrong tool
X charges us cash for every post, and a post containing a link costs us many times more than one without. That is why X deliveries are weighted more heavily in units than the others — the rates are on the pricing page. If your posting is mostly links and mostly to X, this is the network where our pricing will feel least generous, and you should look at the numbers before subscribing.

Because X bills us per post and the others do not, and a post carrying a link costs us substantially more than a plain one. Rather than raising every price to cover it, the weighting sits on the deliveries that actually cost. The exact rates are on the pricing page.
How long can a thread be?
Up to 25 parts, each checked against the 280-character ceiling on its own before anything is sent.
Do I need my own X developer account?
X is connected with our keys, not yours — but it is the one network where our publishing provider’s managed keys do not reach, which is why it behaves slightly differently from the rest and is priced differently too.
Can 1Social confirm an X post is really live?
Only as far as X will tell us. The post URL comes back and deletion works, but the page cannot be read without logging in, so unlike Bluesky we cannot independently verify the text landed. Where that is the case we say the outcome is what the provider reported, not what we checked.
