YouTube Shorts · from Claude
Post YouTube Shorts from Claude.
From Claude, a Short starts as a link to the video file. What makes it a Short rather than an ordinary upload is its shape and its length.
YouTube decides whether an upload is a Short from the video itself — vertical or square, three minutes at most — and quietly publishes anything else as an ordinary video on your channel. From Claude, the clip arrives as a public link to the file, since Claude does not hand attached files to connectors; we fetch it, and the publish is refused if the video is the wrong shape or too long, before YouTube can misfile it.
The first line of your text becomes the title and the whole text the description, up to 5,000 characters, one video per post. The channel is connected with an ordinary Google sign-in on an app Google has verified for uploading, so there is no Cloud project or API key to set up, and the same link can go to TikTok and Instagram in the same request.
Asking Claude for a YouTube Shorts post
The YouTube Shorts ceilings in this exchange come from the same table the publisher enforces — the conversation is drawn, the numbers are not.
Set me up — what do you need?
Just the accounts. Connect them in the browser once and I can publish from here after that.
Done, connected
I will tell you before publishing if a network cannot take what you wrote.
Good. Drafting the launch note now
Send it over and I will check it before anything goes out.
Upload this as a Short this evening, title it from the first line: https://assets.example.com/clips/teaser-vertical.mp4

The clip is vertical and under the limit, so it can be a Short:
Scheduled for 19:45 on the Shorts shelf, titled from your first line.

Publishing to YouTube Shorts from Claude
Refused rather than misfiled
A horizontal or over-long clip is stopped before upload with the reason, because YouTube would have put it on your channel instead of on Shorts.
A link to the file, not the page
The link has to open the video file itself. A share page with a player on it is refused in the check, before any upload is attempted.
Titled from your first line
Claude writes the opening line with the title in mind; that line becomes the Short’s title and the rest of the text its description.
Daily uploads are rationed
YouTube caps the uploads our app can make each day. When the cap is reached, the reply gives the time it resets rather than failing silently.

Why a Short needs its own shape check
Marking an upload as a Short adds a tag to the description, and that is all it does; YouTube decides from the file whether the video goes to the Shorts shelf. Get the shape or length wrong and the upload still succeeds — as an ordinary landscape video on your channel, with nothing in the response to say so. When a clip is fetched from a link, as it usually is from Claude, the frame and length are read off the MP4 or MOV container as it downloads, and a clip that would be misfiled is refused with the reason.
A limitation of YouTube Shorts from Claude itself — it stays true whoever publishes for us. From documentation, checked 2026-10-27.
When this is the wrong tool
If you publish long-form videos, this is not the tool — every upload here is a Short, one video per post, with no custom thumbnails, playlists or comments. And a clip that only exists inside the Claude conversation needs a link before it can be published at all.
Questions people actually ask
Can Claude upload YouTube Shorts?
Yes, with your channel connected to 1Social. Give Claude a public link to a vertical video of up to three minutes and a first line for the title, and it is uploaded as a Short.
Why was my Short refused from Claude?
Either the link opened a page rather than the video file, or the video was horizontal or longer than three minutes. The reply says which, so the fix is a different link or a different cut.
Can the same clip go to TikTok and Instagram too?
Yes. Ask for all three in one message; the link is fetched once and each network is checked on its own rules before anything is published.
